'Eco-fashion is fun and gives consumers a good feeling'

GREEN SHOWROOM is an international trade fair for exquisite sustainable high-fashion, which took place for the twelfth time from July, 8-10, 2015 at Postbahnhof.

GREEN SHOWROOM and Ethical Fashion Show Berlin are Europe's biggest platforms for green fashion during Berlin Fashion Week.

A new avantgarde as well as established labels showed fashion, accessories, beauty and well-chosen lifestyle products which reconcile luxury and design with sustainability. Highlight of the trade fair was the glamorous Salonshow.

'Exhibitors and visitors, including numerous conventional retailers, have all enjoyed a very positive experience', says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt. 'The trade fairs showed just how high the quality of eco fashion is, particularly with regard to design.' With fully booked exhibition spaces, 160 international labels and a tangible increase in visitor numbers, the two trade fairs once again impressed as a central platform for environmentally-friendly and fairly produced fashion during Berlin Fashion Week and as a unique centre of expertise for eco fashion in Europe.

This year many labels were represented with larger stands and more extensive collections. The range of looks being presented was thus more varied than ever before.

'Eco fashion represents a profit and genuine add-on element for the retail industry. It's fun and gives consumers a good feeling. I can say with pride that this means we are a lucrative segment'. This year marked the first time that Messe Frankfurt has approached conventional retailers in a targeted way and also addressed the future-oriented topic of green fashion. With representatives from Breuninger, El Corte Inglés, Ernsting's Family, Heinemann, K & L Ruppert, Manufactum and Peek & Cloppenburg a number of well-known purchasing teams were spotted at the two trade fairs.

International designers conjured up a touch of retro on the catwalk and brought the seventies to life with new proportions and elegant styles for Spring-Summer 2016.

The première of 'Ethical Fashion on Stage', the first fashion show of the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin, which took place on the evening of the second day, generated great enthusiasm. In front of a full house, 57 looks revealed the latest trends in the street and casualwear segments. The urban classics were particularly popular, including hoodies, casual shirts and trainers.

The overarching theme of the two trade fairs was vegan fashion. The trade fairs showcased the topic in a special environment that was realised in cooperation with Noveaux, the magazine for vegan fashion and green lifestyle. Avesu, Freivon, Lovjoi, Opificio V Milano and Simon

Ese presented looks from their new collections, revealing the high fashion standards of vegan clothing.
