Oi Fashion Rocks arrived in Brazil

Full of originality, Oi Fashion Rocks arrived in Brazil and brought international and national fashion and music shows in an unheard of arena in Jockey Club of Rio de Janeiro.

The Brazilian edition was the first one held in Latin America and the only one promoted in 2009. Oi sponsored the event, which besides gathering the best in music and fashion is ruled by its social concern.

In Brazil, Oi Fashion Rocks counted on famous brands dictating trends such as Marc Jacobs, Versace, Givenchy and Calvin Klein and several attractions of the national and international music scene, among them Mariah Carey and Puff Daddy.

Madonna's new stage costumes were designed to help her "make history"

Givenchy Haute Couture designer Riccardo Tisci made the outfit Madonna wears in the opening act of the second leg of her 'Sticky and Sweet' world tour - which kicked off in London on Saturday (04.07.09) - and was determined to make her look as electrifying as possible.

He said: "The new costume is super couture, sensual, Goth, bondage.

"What I wanted for the opening was to give a very iconic view of Madonna. She's wearing an outfit that will make history. I wanted to do something even stronger than what he designed for her in the tour's first leg because she wants to be stronger."

What is Haute Couture?

Haute couture refers to the designing, creating, and selling exclusive custom-made, high fashion women's clothes.

The term "haute couture" comes from the French language. Haute means "high" or "elegant", Couture means "sewing" or "dressmaking".

A business must be a member of the Syndical Chamber for Haute Couture in Paris, which is regulated by the French Department of Industry, in order to be called a haute couture house.

Originally referred to French fashion and in France, now the term Haute Couture is also used loosely to describe all high-fashion custom-fitted clothing.
