This season, Christian Louboutin graced a diverse mix of New York Fashion Week runways with red soled creations, and nailed the manicures at Cushnie et Ochs for the 4th consecutive season.

The week began at Cushnie et Ochs, where the Rivierina 120 brought extra femininity and sex appeal to a hip-hop inspired collection of sleek, modern dresses, replete with cut outs and asymmetry, and form-fitting pencil skirts. Introduced in a pastel palette of yellow, lavender, mint, and peach as well as graphic black and white, Rivierina donned an ultra-shiny patent finish. Already dubbed the ‘new French Manicure,’ manicurist Alicia Torello selected Christian Louboutin Beauté nail colour in La Favorita and Sevillana, designing a chic, deep V manicure inspired by the open backs and bare shoulders of the collection.

A day later, Australian designer Dion Lee presented his second collection in New York, taking inspiration from concepts “Raw,” “Earth,” “Primal” and “Skin.” A masterful technician with fabric, Lee’s collection was uninhibited at its core, emoting a soft sensuality, radiating energy and magnetic movement. Tactile pieces constructed with perforation, slicing, loops and fringe were all complemented by a strappy satin nude Gwynitta in two heel heights, as well as the fringed black Casonovella seen in the current collection.

A connoisseur of the cocktail dress, designer Jenny Packham had a change of heart this season with a collection that summoned the powers of masculine pop icons Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Nick Cave. For a collection that infused the best of glitzy glam rock with evening attire, a custom made mule with a feminine peep-toe and delicate yet edgy gold chain detailing was created. The style walked the runway in gold, black and a peachy nude nappa leather.

The Spring/Summer 2016 season marked Christian Louboutin’s first collaboration with New York designer Zac Posen. Showcasing his range, the collection brought classically couture techniques to crisp, clean day dresses and daywear comfort to after-dark dressing. Our Body Strass, Pigaresille and Pigalle Flats grounded the collection unexpectedly, with just a few looks complemented by the t-strap Miss Early 120 in black and white patent.

Closing New York Fashion Week on a high note, Naeem Khan presented a masterful collection that took more than 600 hands to produce, from colorful, paisley embroidery to mesmerizing, floor-sweeping ball gowns and ombre beaded cocktail dresses. Inspired by sun-drenched gardens in the South of France and the azure blue waters of Capri, Kahn’s collection transported us to a Mediterranean paradise where Bougainvillea strewn white-washed walls served as the backdrop. Custom designed Christian Louboutin wedges in silver mirrored specchio leather befitted the extravagant getaway of Khan’s vison for Spring/Summer 2016.
