TOMO KOIZUMI presented collection Autumn-Winter 2023/2024 at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo
On 16th March I attended the fashion show of TOMO KOIZUMI at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo.
Koizumi launched his brand Tomo Koizumi in 2011 while he was in university. His first fashion show was presented in 2019 at Marc Jacobs’ Madison Avenue store during New York Fashion Week, after catching the attention of British designer Giles Deacon and stylist Katie Grand. In the same year, He was selected for BoF500.
In 2020, he was awarded the LVMH Prize 2020 as one of the eight recipients. At the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics 2020, he was in charge of the costume for the national anthem singer. In 2021, he won the Grand Prize of the Mainichi Fashion Grand Prix.
Tomo Koizumi is known for his hand-sewn, voluminous, ruffled dresses, made from Japanese polyester.
In 2019, the Metropolitan Museum of Art showcased his designs in the Camp: Notes on Fashion exhibition.
