Hong Kong Fashion Week Returns in July to Present Exciting Spring-Summer Trends to Industry Buyers

Hong Kong Fashion Week Returns in July The 19th HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer will be staged from 3-6 July 2012 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. Over a dozen fashion shows will run throughout the fair period, showcasing designer brands and up-and-coming designers. Seminars by key trend forecasters will bring insights into the global market direction and a presentation on NGO support for eco-friendly developments in the fashion industry will outline a sustainable future.

Fashion designers from both Hong Kong and overseas will showcase their unique designs at the 2012 event. The Brand Collection Show will feature AFRIQUE by Ika Butoni, an Indonesian-born Hong Kong designer, and the MaConsef S/S collection 2013 by Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre. Designers from the Chinese mainland, Singapore, Taiwan will also present their collections in various International Fashion: On Parades throughout the fair period. MAC Cosmetics and Tigi will demonstrate the latest makeup and hair styling to complement the fashion.

Young designers are also ready to show international buyers their creativity. FASHIONALLY COLLECTION will gather local young designers, including Kenax Leung, Zoe Li, Mim Mak Angela Ng, Casey Ng, Mountain Yam, and many more to present their latest designs on the opening day of the fair; six emerging design talents will showcase their sustainable fashion designs in the “EcoChic Design Award Hong Kong 2012”; and two graduation shows of the Institute of Textiles and Clothing of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The School of Continuing of Professional Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong will highlight students’ innovative designs.

World-renowned trend forecasters including Fashion Snoops and Stylesight from the US, Peclers Paris from France, WGSN from the UK, will host seminars to give insights into market trends for the coming seasons. REDRESS, a Hong Kong-based NGO promoting environmental sustainability in Asia’s fashion industry by reducing textile waste, will host a seminar on “Reducing Textile Waste Through Sustainable Design”, featuring heavy-weight speakers from the fashion industry, including Ms. Do Do Yeung, publisher of fashion magazine, ELLE, and Mr. Barney Cheng, renowned local fashion designer, to share their views on the second day of the fair.

Always evolving, Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2012 adds Fashion Jewellery Feast and Salon of Scarves & Shawls to its zones lineup. As its name implies, Fashion Jewellery Feast offers costume jewellery from the less expensive, trendy pieces to the highest quality; Salon of Scarves and Shawls gathers new and existing exhibitors with a wide range of these fashionable acessories.
