AEI Téxtils participated in the European Cluster Conference 2020

AEI Tèxtils, the Catalan technical textiles’ cluster, has participated in the European Cluster Conference 2020. The conference was held on November 10th and 11th and was organized by the European Cluster Collaboration platform (ECCP), the European Commission and the German Presidency of the European Union.

The major focus of the conference was on the role of clusters to drive the green and digital transition across the different strategic value chains to make industry more resilient. This year, the conference was organized virtually with over 1.000 participants from different European clusters, European Commission policy officers and relevant stakeholders.

AEI Tèxtils also had a strong presence in the conference with a virtual booth featuring the main projects and activities, actively participating in the world café sessions and with a presentation in the main stage during the EU Financing landscape session on November 10th.

Josep Casamada, Project Manager at AEI Tèxtils, presented the GALACTICA project, which was recently started and is led by the cluster. The project was selected for its potential impact on the textile and aerospace sectors in Europe for developing economic opportunities based on innovation to strengthen industrial resilience.

In parallel to the conference, AEI Tèxtils also participated to the conference side event, the Intra-European Cluster Matchmaking organized on November 11th and 12th. The virtual brokerage session has allowed AEI Tèxtils to meet with clusters from across Europe to discuss potential collaboration schemes in benefit for its members.

Participating in networking events alike is crucial to build long lasting partnerships among clusters that can generate beneficial programs for its members. AEI Tèxtils previous participation has allowed the launch of several projects like CLAMTEX and GALACTICA that will benefit the innovation capacity and the resilience of the Catalan technical textiles’ sector.
