Rihanna with 2014 CFDA Fashion Icon Award

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced yesterday (March 24, 2014) that Rihanna will be honored with the 2014 CFDA Fashion Icon Award on June 2 in New York City.

The award is given to one whose style has made a tremendous impact on pop culture around the world. Past recipients include Lady Gaga, Iman, Kate Moss and Nicole Kidman.

The 26-year-old singer is currently the face of the Balmain Spring-Summer 2014 collection. She was spotted at shows of some of the world's most famous fashion brands during the Paris Fashion Week this year.

'We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion's most exciting ambassador in recent memory', CFDA CEO Steven Kolb said in a statement.
