20 years of the international denim trade show Bluezone
This summer, from July 18 - 19, the international denim trade show BLUEZONE will celebrate its anniversary. More than 100 denim and sportswear experts will turn Munich's Zenith area into a blue hotspot. Along with MUNICH FABRIC START and THE SOURCE and with a supporting program that is as full to the brim as it is relevant, the area on Munich's Lilienthalallee will become the hub of the international fashion community.
MUNICH FABRIC START GmbH is moving up the dates for its international fabric trade shows
From 2023, the summer editions of MUNICH FABRIC START, BLUEZONE, KEYHOUSE and THE SOURCE will take place in the second half of July. Next summer, VIEW will be held for the first time as a reVIEW concept on 5 and 6 September 2023 after MUNICH FABRIC START. The trade show dates for Spring.Summer 24 remain unchanged: VIEW (29 - 30 November 2022), MUNICH FABRIC START (24 - 26 January 2023), BLUEZONE and KEYHOUSE (24 - 25 January 2023).

While recent projects like the newly developed BLUEZONE Living Page as well as the DIGITAL TREND SPACE offer urgently needed information and inspiration for the development of Spring-Summer 2022 collections, the MUNICH FABRIC START team announced that it is highly motivated and planning is now underway for the Autumn-Winter 2022/2023 season. Especially in the fashion industry, personal exchange and the tactile experience of materials is essential - which is why the organisers are looking forward to realise physical events for the industry soon and to answer the wish and market need for physical events again.
FABRIC DAYS Spring-Summer 2022 postponed to 2 – 4 March 2021
With the goal to realise a physical event for the textile industry for the upcoming Spring-Summer 2022 season, the team at Munich Fabric Start Exhibitions GmbH is undergoing plans for the second edition of FABRIC DAYS. With this, the organisers are eager to offer a platform for those manufacturers and suppliers who can and want to present their collections in Munich. What has been successfully realised in September with FABRIC DAYS shall be repeated: that a trade fair is possible under the new conditions with Covid-19.

MUNICH FABRIC START Spring/Summer 2021 - A new level of sustainability, digitalisation, transparency
The MUNICH FABRIC START introduced the Spring/Summer 2021 season from 04 - 06 February in Munich. The accents were the BLUEZONE, KEYHOUSE and the individual showcases presented by around 1,000 international suppliers of fabrics and additionals. The approximately 18,400 international trade visitors were offered a broad spectrum of strongly positioned collections with innovative product and trend statements. A new awareness of ecology and the increasing relevance of natural looks and resource-saving materials were noticed.

REMO motivates people toward sustainable textile productions and conscious choices
The project shown at Munich Fabric Start in the beginning of September started from the vision of Martin Havik, founder of the recycled movement REMO with the support of Michel Walstock. Martin has lived in Prato many years owning a buying office dealing with big brands as G-Star, Hugo Boss and more. He understood many years ago that world resources are finite and soon the textile was in the need to find a more sustainable way to produce if it wants to survive this period of crisis. He pulled together a group of professionals in textile field since many years, starting with a company in Prato Co.mi.stra owned by the Tesi family with a centuries-old culture about recycling wool, the fabric designer Piero Diddi, a specialist in textile innovation - Dalia Benefatto.

VDMA Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies with high expectations for Texprocess 2019
The industry looks forward to Texprocess, the leading trade fair for processing textile and flexible materials, taking place in Frankfurt from 14 to 17 May 2019. "Sales in the entire German Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies sector rose by 5.7 percent in real terms yearon-year in the months from January to October 2018," explained Elgar Straub, Managing Director of VDMA Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies, at Texprocess's international press conference in Frankfurt.

"Sales in the Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies sector rose by 11.4 percent in real terms in the months from January to August 2018 compared with the previous year," explained Elgar Straub, Managing Director of VDMA Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies, at the industry meeting and general meeting of the trade association in Munich. Similarly, exports by the sector, which brings together manufacturers of sewing and garment technology, shoe and leather technology as well as laundry and dry-cleaning technology, increased by 6.2 percent in 2017 from 1.049 billion euros (2016) to 1.114 billion euros (2017). "Although times are still economically successful, many external components, such as Brexit or the trade policy of the US President, are nevertheless bringing considerable unrest to the markets," said G?nter Veit, Chairman of the VDMA Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies.

The future of clothing production
One of the projects that caught my attention at Munich Fabric Start was the MicroFactory at Keyhouse. Coordinated by the Deutsche Institute fur Textil- und Faserforschung (German Institute for Textile and Fibre Research), MicroFactory at Keyhouse demonstrated for the first time a fully networked and integrated production chain from the design stage through to the finished product. It illustrated the possibility for a swift reaction to market needs already from the first production batch.

Intelligent textiles of any kind have to be assembled during the final production step. This means that the individual components have to be combined into a final product (e. g. a piece of clothing) using a joining technology. Here traditionally a sewing machine is used. Usually intelligent textiles (in leisure, sports outdoor, protective clothing) are also technical textiles; in this case assembly by ultrasonic is a modern future-oriented and economical alternative to sewing.
