Intelligent textiles of any kind have to be assembled during the final production step. This means that the individual components have to be combined into a final product (e. g. a piece of clothing) using a joining technology. Here traditionally a sewing machine is used. Usually intelligent textiles (in leisure, sports outdoor, protective clothing) are also technical textiles; in this case assembly by ultrasonic is a modern future-oriented and economical alternative to sewing. Animals and insects inspired the new collection of fabrics Autumn/Winter 2018/2019 by Vitale Barberis Canonico
While visiting the XXVth edition of Milano Unica at Rho Fiera from 11th – 13th July 2017 I was impressed by the new Autumn/Winter 2018/2019 fabric collection of the Vitale Barberis Canonico wool mill, managed by the same family for more than 350 years. The collection is divided into the three ranges: Classic; Vintage; and Earth, Wind & Fire. The dominant factor? A return to the original winter fabrics predominantly in weightier pure wool.
ISAIA "San Leucio" collection for Fall/Winter 2017-2018 presents and re-elaborates different images and moods. The leitmotif pays tribute the silk saga and the legendary Bourbon silk textile workshop of San Leucio, nestled in the bills not far from the magnificent Reggia di Caserta and the pride of the kingdom of Napoli between the 18th and 19th centuries.

The 'New Beginning' of the 23rd edition of Milano Unica starts from the principle of offering a new dimension of service, creativity and excellence of the proposals put on display, with a view to accompanying visitors through the values of quality and authenticity that characterize Made-in-Italy production.
'For this project I looked at textures within decaying buildings such as peeling paint, crumbling plaster, lichen and so on. I wanted a soft yet textured feel to the cloth, so hand-dyed Merino wool combined with some textured yarns in different weights was perfect for this'.
The show was a rendition of classic Sander staples, almost archetypal—boxy workwear-inspired blousons, unstructured cotton suits with controlled volumes, dusters of ample near billowy proportions. It looked pared down and practical, a modular wardrobe for the modern zeitgeist. Fabrics were light yet textured; the color palette spanned from luminous hues—pale blues and grays, delicate greens—to sun-bleached, ombré effects that gave an almost “foggy” patina to part of the lineup.

Le Palais Bulles: A utopian project that encompasses earth, sky and sea, where the future is built organically from the forms and architecture of the past. In this Collection Croisiére, Raf Simons, Artistic Director of Christian Dior, looks to the landscape and memory of the South of France. Gaining inspiration from the colours, textures and light of the natural world of the Cote d’Azur, together with the style of the people who have inhabited it, the designer draws on tradition and technique to realise clothing for today. In so doing, Le Palais Bulles (Bubble Palace) becomes a metaphor for the approach to the collection overall.
