Julia Roberts is the new face of Lancome, the online edition of British Vogue reports. The pretty woman will be a global ambassador of the brand and for that role she will receive over $20 million. The first ad she features in, shot by Mario Testino, is for a Lancôme’s mascara and will be broadcasted around Europe in March.
The Oscar-winning actress was a fan of the brand long before the deal was announced. The star's lipstick of choice is Lancôme's L'Absolu Rouge in Rich Cashmere - a hydrating nude praline shade.
Temperatures Rise at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York
Despite snowy conditions for the start of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this February 11-18, 2010, the Bryant Park tents are red hot with the New York debut of the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and E-Class Cabriolet.
Until now their collections presented Zac Posen, Max Azria, Gwen Stefani, Charlotte Ronson, David LaChapelle, Christian Siriano, Michael Angel, La Perla etc.

Alexander McQueen's death mourned by the fashion world
The British designer Alexander McQueen was found dead in his Mayfair home yesterday morning, nine days after the death of his mother.
"At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family," said the statement, using the designer's real first name. Unconfirmed reports suggested that he had hanged himself.
Alexander McQueen's death came just days before the start of London fashion week.

A mixture of frivolously dressed girls like rebellions and elegant brides were seen by the audience during the AltaRoma fashion week in Rome, Italy.
The designer Abed Mahfouz from Lebanon presented romantic models for brides in white and formal dresses in turquoise nuances.

Tiffany & Co. today announced that tennis champion Maria Sharapova will wear earrings by celebrated Tiffany designer Paloma Picasso at the Australian Open, January 18 – January 31, 2010 at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia.

"Hugo Boss" intends to move it's production to Romania, Turkey and Bulgaria

in Brooklyn in April and most probably will move it's production in Romania,
Turkey and Bulgaria.
After these changes, 300 people will loose their jobs, reports Cleveland.
Company representatives refused to comment on the statement of closing
the production in the U.S. but made it clear that they have compensation packages
for the 300 employees who will remain unemployed.

Students in fashion presented their interpretations of traditional garments of European nations
"The aim of the contest was to motivate the young people to get to know the traditions and culture in the field of garments and design of the people in the European Union. And to recreate them to fit todays conditions of life and fashion trends", shared the organizers. The participants sent their ideas as fashion sketches and the 15 best ideas received help to develop them and present the clothes in the fashion show. It is curious that most ideas were taken from traditional men's costumes and originally transformed in provocative women's garments.

The Israeli model Bar Raffaeli was chosen as the best model in the past year.
With 449 votes given "for" the Israeli top model, she grabbed the title best model in 2009.

Several days ago 15 beauties participated in the contest Miss Sofia - Winter
2010 in beautiful youth toilets of boutique WOMAN MONRO with designer Milena
Tsoncheva and the prom dresses of atelier SIMON with designer Gergana Simeonova.
Delfina specially made swimsuits in red for the contest and they were combined
with Christmas hats to remind the holiday approach.
Marchela Mincheva is the third runner-up, the second is Gergana Chakarova, the
first runner-up is Ana Maria from Sofia. Miss Sofia - Winter became Lilia Teterekova.
All they received a lot of presents.
Big Christmas fashion show of fashion students in New Bulgarian university
On 16 December students in fashion in New Bulgarian university showed their creations. The fashion show is a result from the work of students and teachers who prepared the models in the course of several months for this big event. The artistic fantasy and inspiration of the young people, their non-standard ideas were realized very successfully. The fashion show presented the style and methods of education in fashion in the university. The students designed and produced the clothes on their own.
The fashion show was separated in two themes - Winter kaleidoscope and Clothes & armor.

The ceremony took place on 14 November in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Montblanc Launches Signature for Good "Children's Wishes for Children" - A nationwide holiday initiative to benefit UNICEF
Montblanc is inviting children and families around USA to join its efforts to spread words of peace and hope for the holiday season, raising funds for UNICEF in the process. When visiting one of the participating Montblanc boutiques, children will be asked to draw or write a special wish for a child in need on a uniquely designed silver wish ornament.

Marina was born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria. Her love of art and design began at an early age and was encouraged by her mother who was a professor of textile and fashion design.
Before entering the Master Degree program at Academy of Art University, Marina studied textile design at the School of Applied Arts and received a BFA and MFA degree from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria.
For this collection, she was inspired by nature, humanity and the ‘chaos’ of color and texture. Marina’s knitwear is a combination of various knitting techniques and yarn arrangements resulting in rich textures and the illusion of depth in her garments.
