Julia Jurevich came to Geneva to present Bulgaria at the Eco Chic forum – a world fashion exhibition. 48 fashion designers will take part in this forum. Among them will be the famous designers Rick Owens and Diane von Furstenberg.
Forum producers invited Julia because they were impressed by her photossesion where she has presented a special dress made by Evgeni Petkov. The last one is the only Bulgarian representative at this exhibition.
Students in fashion presented their interpretations of traditional garments of European nations
"The aim of the contest was to motivate the young people to get to know the traditions and culture in the field of garments and design of the people in the European Union. And to recreate them to fit todays conditions of life and fashion trends", shared the organizers. The participants sent their ideas as fashion sketches and the 15 best ideas received help to develop them and present the clothes in the fashion show. It is curious that most ideas were taken from traditional men's costumes and originally transformed in provocative women's garments.

The best models of Bulgaria 2009 Women became Nina Angelova from Yoanna Art
agency and Diana Ivancheva from Expose models.
Bulgaria will be hosting the 22-nd edition of the world contest for professional
models Best Model of the World 2009 and has the right to present two models
on 11 December 2009 in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, hall 3.

Esther Noriega showed her new spring-summer 2010 couture collection in Castilla y León Fashion Week on 7th October 2009 in Burgos.
In her new collection, the designer recalls the spirit of the 30’s that emerged during the Great Depression and draws an analogy between the old days and the present time. Originality in the selection of fabrics, stress on the feminine shape and wild range of accessories give her collection sophistication and simplicity, linked to serve imagination.
Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 10 collection was inspired by "hippie punks"
Creative director Marc Jacobs showed the line at Paris Fashion Week on
07.10.09, and revealed his theme was the New Age clothes popular in the 80s
and 90s.
He said: "Street clothes, embracing the hippie-cyber,
tribal-punk world."
Models wore huge, brightly-coloured Afro wigs and pranced down the catwalk
to music by British girl band The Saturdays.

Claudia Schiffer no longer wants to do catwalk modelling
The supermodel is giving up appearing on the runway and wants to concentrate on other aspects of modelling.
The mother-of-two said: "I'm finished with the runway. I won't miss it. I am still modelling and enjoy that a lot but no more runways."
Claudia added she gets more enjoyment from watching fashion shows as a
spectator rather than taking part.
The 39-year-old beauty told Britain's Telegraph newspaper: "I
can sit on
the side and view the outfits and see all the details and that suits me
fine. It's very enjoyable. I like my viewpoint."
Bulgarian model opened a fashion show during London Fashion Week
The model of fashion agency Visages Hristiana Vucheva took part in London Fashion
Week. The 18-year old beauty was selected to open the fashion show of the Korean
designer Eun Jeong.
Hristiana also fell in the selection of the world approved designer Caroline
Charles. The extravagant coiffeur Charlie le Mindu, whose clients are may pop
icons, like Lady Gaga and magazines like Vouge and Marie Claire, was also charmed
by the model.
Hristiana has also worked for ICE models (Milan) and her photos appeared in the
Italian edition Mia magazine. She has walked in the defiles of Ermanno Scervino,
Escada, VJC, La Perla and many others
Giorgio Armani looked to the future
Giorgio Armani looked to the future and explored the world of ‘plastic fantastic’
in his younger, Emporio Armani collection at Milan Fashion Week.
Swimsuits and bikinis were bedecked with Plexiglass brooches and necklaces
as bright as molten lava. Sandals featured crimson Perspex heels and ankle-straps.
Short, party dresses in Vesuvian shades of bright orange and fuschia, were
cinched with shiny, shocking-pink, patent-leather belts.
The colours exploded like fireworks on the graphic PVC catwalk, sending
a clear signal that Armani is once again working at full creative power after
battling with hepatitis over the summer.
An extravagant winter by Jeni style
Jeni style fashion house with designer Evgenia Jivkova will present its
newest collection autumn-winter 2009/2010 called Extravagant winter on September
16,
2009 at Hall 3 of the National Palace of Culture. The 14 years old daughter
of Mrs. Jivkova – Andrea Stefanova will take part in the fashion show.
Evgenia Jivkova says: The name of my newest collection is Extravagant winter. Through my clothes women will be confident and sexy without showing off these qualities. At the same time women wearing Jeni style will demonstrate their new and different appearance and will look braver and independent.

Maria Barros presented her collection Spring-Summer 2010 at Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week. The models are in blue, orange and white.
Frills, crimps, large collars are characteristic for the blouses and some of the dresses.
With strength, elegance, great sense of design and a clear international vision, Maria Barros firm was founded in 2003. Locating the main head office in La Coruña the firm started off activities by showing the collections display on the Barcelonan Gaudí Catwalk for four consecutive seasons.

As part of London Fashion Week's 25th anniversary, British luxury brand
Burberry proudly celebrated by closing the event on Tuesday 22nd September,
moving its Spring - Summer 2010 Burberry Prorsum womenswear show from Milan.
British actress Emma Watson, model Agyness Dean and TV presenter Alexa
Chung were among the stars attending the only red carpet event of London Fashion
Week. A-listers Liv Tyler, Mary Kate Olsen and Orlando Bloom, as well as Maggie
Cheung, Freida Pinto and Dev Patel also made an appearance. The Burberry show
- its first major show outside of Milan - is also the largest of the Week and
features the longest catwalk and front row.

The world fashion chanel Fashion TV will start to broadcast from Bulgaria in autumn.
A party in the Sunny Beach resort was organized in honour of the future channel start.

Christian Dior's collection on Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture
Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture finished. It continued 3 days, during which their
collections presented Giorgio Armani, Jean Paul Gaultier, etc.
On the first day of the fashion performance become an event John Galliano's collection for the fashion house Christian Dior. Christian
Dior Haute Couture autumn/winter 2009-10 collection obviously is inspired by transparent
materials and usage of underwear as top cloth. John Galliano showed
a mix of grand style dresses and underwear like 50's: silk blouses with stockings
and garters, splendid skirts with beige bras and gloves, enhancing thigh bastions,
short jackets and round combinations on the edge.

The 'Fever in the Cabine' Christian Dior collection was inspired by
shows put on in the 50s, and featured models in jackets and knickers,
and skirts and bras.
Galliano was inspired by a picture of Dior backstage at a show
surrounded by models hurriedly getting dressed.
He attempted to recreate the mayhem on stage, with the couture outfits available to order as sets.
Supermodel Karen Mulder has been arrested for making "threatening" phone calls to a plastic surgeon
The 39-year-old star was questioned at a Paris police station after calling the medic and reportedly demanding for a previous operation to be reversed.
A detective said: "She was screaming and shouting about the operation and became extremely threatening. There were repeated calls to the female surgeon who was extremely scared. The suspect is being interviewed."
Karen was arrested at about 10am yesterday (30.06.09) and taken to a station in the fashion district of the French capital city.
Bulgarian designers' fashion show in Vien on Fashion TV
The designers' duo "Bipone", "Golden needle 2008" owners for the best young designer proved again that they deserve this award.
The students of New Bulgarian University succeeded in two weeks to provoke the media.
After they were between the eighth finalists from whole Austria on the fashion
competition "Ringstrassen Galerien Designer Award", they presented their collection glamorously
on the last fashion show in Hilton hotel in Vien.
On the grand fashion performance the talented Bulgarians made the fashion specialists
seriously to reestimate the value of Bulgarian fashion. Between the 500 official
guests were the Bulgarian ambassador in Austria Radi Naidenov and the director of the Bulgarian
Culture Institute Borislav Petranov.
Miuccia Prada refuses to take a full walk down the runway after her fashion shows
The Italian designer doesn't want to be like other designers and bask
in glory after debuting her collections.
She said: "I hate the cliche of fashion designers
since the beginning. And so because I came from another background - and actually
being a feminist at those times, not that I've changed so much - I didn't want
to do anything that fashion designers were doing. And the first thing I didn't
want to do was that."
Miuccia - whose celebrity fans include Tilda Swinton, Victoria Beckham
and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen - also revealed she likes her designs to be
ironic.
Roma Fashion - beauty and magic of gipsy culture
On 8 May in Sofia was held the fashion show ROMA FASHION. Original gipsy music and poetry accompanied the event.
Inspired by the gipsy aesthetics, designers from Bulgaria and abroad presented their creations, showing the romance of the "gipsy style" in contemporary fashion. The show included models of designers from Bulgaria, Finland, Romania, Argentina, Macedonia etc.

Competition for young designers Createurope: The Fashion Design Award
Young designers from Europe, North Africa and the Middle East between 18 and
32 years of age are invited to take part. Take your chance to show your collection
to a large international audience!
The competition encourages and supports young designers at the outset of their
careers to establish themselves and to exchange ideas with their counterparts
from other countries.
In 2008 the first createurope: THE FASHION DESIGN AWARD took place. In this first
year it already achieved great success, with over 1000 entrants, a jury of
prominent figures from the fashion world and a catwalk show for the finalists
in Berlin in October 2008.

The premiere of the new Spring 2008 collection of MARKAM FASHION had an enormous success during the exhibition in Salzburg.
In the fashionable arena in the city of Mozart MARKAM FASHION participated for the first time and was the only Bulgarian company there.
The international audience gave a hearty welcome to the new fashion collection of MARKAM FASHION, which was appraised as highly successful.
